Blunomy's insights on the French cPPA market in 2024
Blunomy has completed an industry-wide study, bringing together key French Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (cPPA) stakeholders – sponsors, aggregators, banks, and corporates – to gauge the French cPPA market traction, now that the peak of the energy crisis is over.
Despite strong interest from independent power producers (IPPs) in developing cPPA contracts, the transition of France's renewable energy industry to a market-driven model has been slow. Many challenges lie ahead, such as financing structures other than the typical 20-year Pay-as-Produced PPA contract, enabling smaller companies to sign a cPPA, and bridging the gap between cPPA prices and market prices. This report provides insights into the different market challenges, and highlights the conditions required for the French cPPA market to scale.
